Most event guides in Mumbai are written for 22-year-olds who don't mind standing in line at midnight, shouting over 100-decibel speakers, or spending three hours stuck on the WEH just to get to a crowded bar.
There is almost nothing written for adults who simply want a good evening out, where you can actually sit down, hear the person across the table, drink something nice, and leave before traffic turns into a nightmare.
Marzi exists because a lot of us in our 50s and 60s realized our social circles were shrinking, but our desire to go out hadn't vanished. We host small, low-stress gatherings across Andheri for people who want plans that don't feel like hard work.
What a Typical Marzi Evening Actually Looks Like
If you’ve never been to one of our meetups, it’s hard to picture how it works. We don't do awkward round-robin introductions or corporate icebreakers.
On clear evenings, our meetups usually begin an hour before sunset, right around the time the sea breeze picks up and the neighbourhood finally starts slowing down. You walk into a quiet, cozy corner of a restaurant or studio where a Marzi host meets you at the door. If you've come alone, the host will introduce you to two or three people who are already sitting down, grab you a drink, and help you ease into the conversation.
An hour in, nobody is checking their watches. It's common to see someone arrive quietly at 5:00 PM feeling a bit unsure of themselves, and by 7:30 PM they’re sitting back with a cold drink, laughing at an old Mohammed Rafi story, and exchanging phone numbers with people they met two hours ago.
This Week in Mumbai
Here is what is coming up on our calendar. No massive crowds, no door queues.
What's Happening | Where & When | What to Expect |
|---|---|---|
Retro Karaoke & Drinks | Andheri West Sat, 5:00 PM | Kishore Kumar, RD Burman, and 80s pop. Nobody cares if you hit the high notes; everyone sings along anyway. |
Sunset Social | Sakinaka / Andheri East Sun, 5:30 PM | Early evening drinks, light food, and music quiet enough that you can actually talk. |
Mid-Week Coffee & Board Games | Andheri West Wed, 4:00 PM | Low-key board games, tea, and warm snacks when you want an excuse to leave the house on a Wednesday. |

The Formats We Run
We stick to a few tried-and-tested formats that give people something fun to do without making anyone feel on the spot.
Karaoke Nights
Our karaoke sessions are intentionally small. We book private or quiet dining sections so you aren't singing to a room full of strangers. Most people end up singing in pairs or small groups, usually old Hindi classics or classic rock, and the room is always generous with applause. If you just want to tap your feet and sip your drink without touching a microphone, that’s completely fine too. Check out our upcoming karaoke in Mumbai dates.
Sundowners
If you aren't familiar with the term, a sundowner is just an early evening gathering designed around the sunset. We start early, around 5:00 or 5:30 PM, so you get the best part of the evening light, enjoy a drink and some finger food, and still get home in time for a normal dinner and a solid night's sleep.
Afternoon Table Games & Badminton
For those who prefer daylight plans, we run mid-week afternoon socials. Some weeks it’s low-stress indoor games like Carrom, Scrabble, or trivia over coffee; other weeks it's a light game of doubles badminton at a local indoor court followed by fresh juice.
Why We Stick to Andheri
Mumbai traffic can ruin even the best-laid plans. Trying to get someone from Lokhandwala to drive down to Lower Parel on a Friday evening is a recipe for frustration.
That is why our Mumbai events are anchored firmly in Andheri West and Andheri East.
Andheri is central enough for anyone coming from Bandra, Goregaon, Powai, or Ghatkopar. It has great metro connectivity, plenty of venues with proper parking, and easy step-free access. Focusing our events in Andheri means you spend twenty minutes in an Auto or cab rather than ninety minutes idling on the Western Express Highway.
When You Want a Quiet Day On Your Own
Beyond our meetups, Mumbai has plenty of calm corners if you know when and where to look. Here are a few places to enjoy the city at an unhurried pace:
Sunday morning walks in South Mumbai: Head down to Kala Ghoda around 7:30 AM on a Sunday. The grand colonial streets are completely empty, the air is cool, and you can walk freely before the shops open and traffic builds up.
Catching a matinee at Prithvi: Book an afternoon show at Prithvi Theatre in Juhu, then sit in the shaded brick courtyard afterwards with an Irish coffee or hot parathas.
An hour at Jehangir Art Gallery: It's quiet, cool, air-conditioned, and step-free. You can spend a peaceful forty-five minutes looking at modern Indian art without feeling rushed.
Sea breeze at Bandstand: Drive down to Bandra Bandstand around 4:00 PM just before the evening crowd arrives to sit on the benches, watch the tide, and get fresh air.

"Can I Really Show Up Alone?"
That is the first question almost everyone asks us.
Yes. In fact, that's how most people attend their very first Marzi event.
Walking into a room where you don't know anyone can feel daunting at 15, 35, or 55. We know that. That’s why our hosts stay near the door specifically to catch solo arrivals. You won't be left standing awkwardly in a corner holding a glass. Within three minutes, you'll be introduced to a couple of friendly faces, handed a menu, and pulled right into whatever conversation is happening at the table.
Most people who come alone the first time end up walking in with friends by their third event.
